So We Made a Magazine

Juicebox is a Fashion Magazine Created solely by the Fashion promotion students at Ravensbourne college. This year, my class was given the responsibility of creating five summer supplements for the magazine. Each supplement was done by a group and each group had a different theme or topic. My group was given 'Out and About'

I am pleased to say that after six week of late night and a lot of hard work, 64 page magazine is now complete. It was a good experience as it allowed us to see how much work goes into one magazine and how fast the work needs to be turned around before sending it to the printers. I am very proud of my team, and hope that the public will like what we have written about.

I will keep you updated about when the magazine will be released on line, but in the mean time, check out the latest edition of Juicebox magazine at http://juiceboxmagazine.org.uk

Make Up Review: Mac Maleficent

So with Maleficent just days away from showing in the cinema (I can't wait), I decided it was time to go shopping and I was pleasantly surprised to find the newly released makeup collaboration with MAC, and decided to purchase two products from the collection. I simply loved the wing design on the packaging.

The first of my purchases was this eyeshadow quad. This quad consists of four standard mac eyeshadows. These are: Goldmine (the gold), Ground Brown (the dark brown), Concrete (the brown/grey) and Carbon (the Black).

The eyeshadows are very pigmented and were easy to apply. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone interested in it.

My second and final purchase from the collection was this bronzer/contour colour in the shade Sculpt. Unfortunately, it did not show up too well when i tried to test the colour out on my wrist, however, I found that it showed up a little bit better when put on top of a foundation or concealer.

It took a few applications of the product to get this colour. Overall, I wasn't as pleased with it and would not recommend buying it (despite the pretty packaging).

Here is a look a put together using these products and my current makeup collection.

Products used: Maybelline Fit Me foundation
MAC Sculpt Powder
MAC Maleficent Eyeshadow Quad (on eyes and the Goldmine colour as a highlight on cheeks)
L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara
MAC Lipstick in Diva

Hope you like it

Kim and Kanye: The Wedding

So Kim Kardashian and Kanye West became Kinye this weekend as they celebrated their Love in a ceremony in Florence, Italy Over the weekend. Kim Kardashian, who released the pictures today, wore a beautiful gown designed by personal friend of the happy couple Givenchy's creative director, Riccardo Tisci, for her third time down the isle (third time lucky right?). They even had an exact replica of the dress made for baby North to wear on the day.

The day before the wedding, the happy couple and their closest friends and family, were invited to a brunch  at Valentino's chateux, hosted by the designer, before heading back into paris for their pre-wedding party held at the Versailles's Hall of Mirrors, with a special performance by Lana Del Ray.

From looking at the Photos from the weekend, it looks like it was a beautiful wedding and I wish the happy couple good luck with their lives.

Twin Telepathy

For those of you who don't personally know me, or are new to my blog, it may be a surprise to you that I have a twin sister (Oh My God, There's Two Of Them). Although we aren't identical twins, we are forever being mistaken for one another.

I don't know about other twins, but from a young age, our mother would dress us in matching, or fairly similar outfits, but as we grew up, we developed our own personal styles. HOWEVER, there have been occasions where, without seeing what the other is wearing, we have chosen fairly similar combinations, or even the exact same outfit to wear that day.... I guess great minds do think alike!!

Twin Telepathy? I think so.

Made in Mexico

The Rebozo, is the traditional Mexican shawl, that was famously worn by Mexican artist, Frida Khalo. It has now also become the centre of a new exhibition at the Fashion and Textiles Museum entitled MADE IN MEXICO The Rebozo in art, culture and fashion. The exhibition explores how fashion and textiles has shaped and promoted Mexican Culture from the 17th Century to the present day, on a world wide basis. The exhibition will be in London from early June, until the end of October and will show the works of Brazilian and UK artists, Photographers, fashion and textiles designers and will also showcase recent works that have been inspired by the classic shawl.

This is definitely something I hope to see during the summer this year.

Friday Adventures

So yesterday evening, I went on a little adventure. Having already been in the South Kensington area, I decided to take a trip to knightsbridge and spend the evening 'ooh'ing and 'aww'ing (and 'Oh My God I Must Have That'ing) at Harrods.

As soon as we got there, I bolted it up to the fourth floor to see the Pradasphere exhibition that has now been there for two weeks. Although I have never been much of a Prada enthusiast, I did enjoy the exhibition and used it as an opportunity to take some photos and to get up close with actual designer clothing. As well at this, we were allowed an insight of collections and items that Prada were re-releasing. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take any photos in that section of the exhibition.

Out of the whole exhibit, My favourite items were a collection of quirky shoes. Some of these were inspired by vintage cars, and cocktails.

After our Prada experience, we decided to head to two of my favourite department of Harrods, The Toy Kingdom, and the Disney Store. Obviously this was accompanied by some shameless posing for the camera with some of the character statues.

I was mesmerised when we came across an old school pinball machine (free to use) in the middle of the Disney Store and after spending what must have been at least half an hour, I think I definitely want one of them in my house in the future (hint, hint).

And Of course, all that Pinball and running around did make us hungry so we decided to have dinner there, and no better place for us than the Disney Cafe.

All in all, it was an amazing way to spend my evening and to end the week. I can't wait for my next adventure.

Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House

Somerset House, home of the British Fashion Council with its beautiful scenery, its no wonder its a big attraction for both tourists, and Londoners, and this summer, its about to get even better. Every summer, Somerset House partners up with Film4 to hold outdoor screenings of selected movies in their beautiful courtyard. They also take the opportunity to premier upcoming films. Although this year, they have decided to do something different. To celebrate ten years of this partnership, there will be a mystery film screening, as selected by members of the public.

It will be from 7th till 20th of August, and tickets are now available from the Somerset House Website.

To me, this sounds like a perfect evening out with friends, or that special someone. This is definitely something I'm dying to see over my summer in London.
What do you think?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

If you don't know what movie that is from, then what have you been doing with your lives? Its from Mean Girls, that Lindsay Lohan movie that gave people everywhere an insight into 'girl world'. In the film, Kady Heron Joins the plastics, a clique that comes with a whole set of rules, and wearing pink on Wednesdays was one of them.

Last week celebrated the tenth anniversary of the release of mean girls, and in the spirit of this, I decided to channel my inner plastic and came up with this outfit.

I hope you like it.

Disney x asos

Disney have partnered up with asos to create an exclusive range of Minnie Mouse headbands for adults that will be available from June this year. Selling for £10 each, the collection consists of nine headbands with the classic Minnie Mouse ears and embellished with things such as flowers, glitter, prints and of course the traditional Minnie Mouse bow between the ears, that minnie mouse herself is rarely seen without.

While I absolutely adore disney, and think these headbands are a cute accessory, I personally would not buy them for everyday use. I would probably only wear this at Disneyland, a music festival or of course a fancy dress party.

Met Ball 2014

This week, The Metropolitan Museum of art held their annual charity gala. The Met Ball is considered as New Yorks biggest social event of the year. The charity gala benefits the Museum, and in particular, The Anna Wintour Costume Centre and usually is used to celebrate the opening of a new exhibition within the Costume Centre. This year, the celebrities came to celebrate the opening of the costume centre's latest exhibition, Charles James: Beyond Fashion, that is being held at the museum until August this year.

Here are a few of my favourite looks from the night.

Although the people above have got it right on the night, unfortunately not everyone was as fortunate.

Who do you think was the best dressed that night?

Wedding Dresses 1775 at the V&A

Over the past year, South Kensington's prestigous  Victoria & Albert Museum has been home to many fashion exhibitions including Club to Catwalk (inspired by London 80s club wear and the clubbing scene) and the Glamour of Italian Fashion (which showcased the history and future of Italian fashion). Now, the V&A opens its doors for their eagerly anticipated new exhibition, Wedding Dresses 1775 - 2014 to the public.

This exhibition will showcase the panoramic history of the traditional white wedding dress and its treatment by famous designers such as Charles Fredrick Worth (England's first Couturier), John Galliano, Christian  Lacroix, Vera Wang and Vivienne Westwood. It will also showcase beautifully glamorous wedding gowns as seen on Dita Von Teese (from her wedding with Marilyn Manson), Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani.

The exhibition is out now and will last until March next year.
A must see for upcoming Brides and fashionistas.

The Amazing Spiderman 2

As well as being a fashion enthusiast, I guess I'm also a little bit of a geek. I love anime and adore watching superhero movies. although I'm totally afraid of spiders, Spider-man is definitely my favourite (maybe as the new films suggest, its because he is AMAZING). This week I had the pleasure of finally seeing the sequel to the reboot of the Spider-man Movies (after nearly a year of anticipation) in 3D.

Anyway,  I loved  the style of Spider-mans onscreen (and offscreen) love interest, Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone throughout the film. I loved her effortless and  preppy look that she maintained throughout the movie.

I would definitely Recommend that everyone goes to see The Amazing Spiderman 2, I can't wait to watch it again

Throwback Thursday - Fashion Film

Seeing as its throwback Thursday, I thought I would take a look back at some of my previous work. This week I decided to show you a recent fashion film that I directed as a part of a university project. For this, we were each given a specific denim brand and were told to create a 1-2 minute fashion film/commercial for that brand, for any upcoming season. I was given the American denim company, Lee. From looking at their more recent adverts, I found that they included dance to reflect the stretch and fit of the jeans. So here is my finished film, I hope you like it.
